have been on spring break for exactly one week now.

prague was great and we killed half a bottle of absinthe in one night. saw some beautiful things, took a tour, got shitty drunk every night.
münchen has grown on me, took a tour today, started drinking at the hofbräuhaus at noon and continued at the chinese tower where i had a beer bigger than my head (ie, one litre), got shitty drunk.

except tonight, though we plan on it, but we walked around the hofgarten and found the memorial for the weiße rose, which was nice.

I suppose a lot has happened since my last update: been to Florence, Rome, neither of which floored me in the same way that Venice did, but thats okay. (Also, my apologies for improper grammar, as this keyboard is the weirdest one I have been on yet.)

Good news: Got my old room in Hobbs! Did a little dance for joy when I found out.

Also, if I want to go to graduation, I need a place to crash until summer school starts on the 15th: if anyone knows where I might be able to do this, I would love you until the end of time. Probably, this will not happen, which makes me very sad.

But I will be in Greensboro this summer, which is a damn sight better than Oviedo.

Midterms are thankfully over, celebrated on Wednesday by Tirolean bowling and lots of drinking, as usual. Lost my camera but luckily recovered it at the Treff the next day.

Trying to plan spring break is my own personal slice of hell at the moment.

K.Chab has come and gone, but before he left he bought us all a fabulous dinner and we all drank lots of nice wine, though the restaurant also brought us shots of alcohol puro (ie, 95%). It was a good night. Tucked J. into bed with a reading of book iv of The Odyssey.

Spring Break: I am planning it for B. and I, and presumably T. will meet us in Prague and we should be travelling to Grecian beaches after that.

My life rocks.

Also, I'm going to try to get my old room in Hobbs again. (Partially since no one asked me to room with them and partially because I love that room, haunted as it may be.)

drinking is fun, tee hee

Another Carnevale party at the Treff, got a little gussied up and we partied hard, as usual - lots of mischief that night that I won't get into, but it was fun. The celebration for N.'s birthday started last night, and will in all likelihood continue tonight. (Even if not, we just wouldn't be us if we didn't drink heavily. I mean. Um. Moving on.)

Aaron Goldfarb arrived yesterday, shocking us a little (we weren't expecting him quite so soon), but he brought me presents so all is well.

festival mania

February 27th, 2006 (02:30 pm)

Fasching in Spondinig-Prad was lots of fun; though Sizzo was not impressed and was disappointed that he built it up so much and it wasn't quite as crazy as he made it out to be. Hot wine, very tasty, until the sawdust got thrown and made its way into our cups. I, of course, drank it anyway, after fishing the larger chunks out. Sawdust is good for the digestive process, isn't it?

Yesterday B., C., M. and I went to Carnevale - Venice is my true love, the city that I fell in love with at first sight. As of right now I don't even have the words to describe how much I love that city, where (I learned today) Ginsberg visited Pound, played the sitar for him, said I am a Jew, let us forgive each other. I will go back to Venezia and make a home there, at least for a little bit.

Saturday night was pretty ridiculous as well - I got at most two hours of sleep before getting up at 645AM to go to Venice. The details are a little hazy, but the Treff was rowdy (I got a flower from a man wearing a green watering can on his head), the service was bad, and I spent the most I've ever spent there (which was only about €16, but still).

So good times, all in all.

italian keyboards freak my freak

February 20th, 2006 (01:59 pm)

It's been snowing here intermittently, which is wonderful except when it halfmelts and I step in the same puddle five times in one night because I can't see anything. Today is grey and bleary but it's still beautiful in another kind of way. I pretty much never want to leave this place.

I had more to say, I'm sure, but I can't really comprehend what I'm going through most days. I'm picking up postcards today, so perhaps a couple of you will get some.

PS. Ashley, you need to send me your address. I don't think I have it with me.
